Discovery 1-CollaborationCollaboration is a key factor when building an EA. There needs to be communication between the stakeholders and not isolate the IT department from the Business department. When roles and responsibilities are aligned everyone's working towards the same goal. Business architecture will guide the departments into a collective vision when there are clear roles and responsibilities and improve decision making. | Discovery 2- Current and Future StateWhen starting this course we looked at current and future states in our own experiences. This is the same for any LEA, we have to look at the current state to plan for future state. Are the services provided by the LEA mission aligned with the services provided? Planning for future state EA can close those gaps in the current state. | Discovery 3- Plan and update frequently and annuallyWhen a EA plan has been created to improve student services, we need to remember that it is a living document, that even though there is a rule thumb on how changes should be made, we need to revise and update annually. It can be easy to fall into a standard and just leave a plan as it is. We need to use any errors that we find to continue and make our EA plan functional to support LEA mission. |
