Typically, school districts have maintained separate plans for technology and the district. For example, a district creates a “district education plan” and then has a separate “technology plan.” Moving forward, do you think this is still a good practice, or should they be combined? Please provide a rationale for your decision.
“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” - Teachers should integrate technology to enhance students’ learning. Districts should do the same. When districts align their educational and integrate technology, they model and guide teachers on how to integrate technology in the classroom. As I look at my district Technology Plan, their objectives include, educational goals based on common core standards, practices to integrate technology when delivering a lesson, find feasible ways to gather data, better communication opportunities, in addition to the networking and infrastructure needed to provide these services. Not only their should be an education technology plan in place, but there should be a plan to execute to reach to the district’s objective. We need more teachers modeling, and training teachers on how to integrate technology to enhance a lesson, provide richer learning opportunities, network with other educators. If Districts continue to create educational plans separate from their technology plan the same will happen at schools. Schools will provide technology classes, but students will not learn how to integrate technology to create, collaborate, research, and share their work with a wider audience. | Resources |
