| "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Logan Laplante doesn't know exactly what career path he will chose, but he knows he wants to be..... happy. As he mentioned in his TED Talk, schools don't teach students how to be happy or healthy. Most curriculum is based on academics, rather than nurturing students passion that would lead them to happiness. Logan's mother decided to take him out of the public school system, and that is how he began hacking his education. Logan studied and researched through an interview with Sir Ken Robinson, and he realized that traditional schools focus on having students create a living rather than create a life. He has created his life with the opportunity to participate in Project Discovery, High Five Basics , and an internship for Moments Skis. Most students don't have the same possibilities as Logan had to venture out with the guide of their parents to. It would be great if Elementary Schools took the initiative to start partnerships within their community. Students could learn in a traditional school, and receive an different type of education. They could create connections between their passions to what they have learned in the classroom. |
