Help me select a Recipe! | 10 Questions to consider1. How do these recipes compare to those found on the internet? 2. Is there an easier or faster way to prepare these recipes? 3. Can I use some of these recipes and create something new? 4. How can I preserve authentic recipes? ( A video, Blog, Pictures) 5. What would happen if each of us create one recipe with exact same ingredients (Would it taste the same)? 6. What is the history behind these recipes? 7. Are any of these recipes "family secrets' and why? 8. Are there similar recipes in other cultures? 9. Is it easier to learn from the internet, a book, or a person? 10. Is cooking their passion, or is it something they had to do for their family? | My ProjectIn order for me to preserve my family's recipes and traditions, I decided to have my mom and grandma teach some of my favorite food they make. During holiday's my grandma always makes tamales, and my mom her pecan and date pie. My grandma swears that she is done making tamales, and that next year she will buy them. I guess it is not that easy to make tamales. I always try to convince my mom so she can learn how to make them. For now, I am still hoping that she will learn before me, but I will start with more simpler recipes. You may catch me on video helping these ladies show me how to cook! ¡Buen Provecho! |

I love flan. So, you should definitely choose to bake the ChocoFlan!

I love the idea of Cesar Salad dressing. It is a true Tijuana dish that many people do not know started there. It would be cool to add the history behind it.

I really like the idea of Gallina Pinta. It's not a dish you see in restaurants here in the US and it is an opportunity to share this new food with others.

Yes Gallina Pinta is my favorite stew for cold days. It is has beans and nixtamal. You can add cilantro and cebolla to the broth. Delicioso :)

I vote for Chocoflan (or anything with chocolate)! I love our idea of continuing the traditions of your mom and grandma.

Thank You Joanna, It is easy, but also hard to perseve family traditions if you are not a great cook. I never thought about using technology would make this easier.I am very forgetful and maybe with a video of them would help preserve not only the tradition, but the fact that they are there telling me how to do it, even if they are not here physically with me.

While any recipe would fine, you should also look into archiving those recipes and preserving them. I know there are some great apps for that, or even google docs or google keep
