Dare to Be!"When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal. When another is lost, dare to help them find the way. When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand. When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile. When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too. When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best. Dare to be the best you can – At all times, Dare to be!” -Steve Marabolii | ¡Hola! Did you greet someone today? Every morning at 7:45 I walk to the blacktop and greet my students and their families. As we walk to the classroom, In occasions, I hug students' moms, grandmothers and give a fist bump to dads. As each of my students walk into my classroom, I give them a hug and give them a compliment. If they missed school, I acknowledge that we missed them. It is important to acknowledge students every morning. I can see who had a difficult morning or who feels sad. If that is the case, I ask my class to start working in their writing, and I just talk the student in private to cheer them up. | Our School Culture Everyone from superintendent, custodian, staff, student teachers or any other person who is part of our school should be greeted the same and it should be reciprocal welcoming. Noon Duties, Substitute Teachers and Nutrition Staff should be more effectively welcomed. I will try to engage more often in conversations with them. Maybe wish them to have a great day and offer help. As part of our School mission, students and staff are models of character, communicators, listeners, and embrace languages. We are very lucky at my school. Every staff member is friendly, and they are welcoming. Every morning staff greets you and they greet you back. When Dr. Fisher came to visit our school he noticed we had a strong culture of welcoming and learning. As a future leader, I will continue to model the behavior I expect from others to convey. I would also share the importance of welcoming as part of the organization or school culture. |
