My leadership experience As I think about my experiences and how they have related in leadership roles, I think about how there is always a vision that I am passionate about that drives me to think with an end in mind. Most of the visions have been to create opportunities for new teachers and help them find job opportunities, best practices in dual language settings and an opportunity to collaborate and learn from the best and most experienced dual language teachers in the US. I do not always know how I will accomplish the goal, but I think about how and who could I collaborate with to share a vision and work together. School Leadership Thinking about myself as a school leader, I believe there should be balance leadership behavior to achieve school goals. “ When leaders emphasize in high concern for both task completion and maintenance of positive interpersonal relationships with people, they reach the highest level of effectiveness” (Blake & Mouton, 1985) | My leadership StyleHaving this in mind, I believe my leadership style is democratic. Everyone in a team has skills, and knowledge that I might not have. Their expertise can and will make a school or vision stronger. An example of this is how an idea of a Dual Language Chat as a vision, but needed an experienced team to collaborate and support the project. Each month that we collaborate as a team, we share our thoughts and visions on how each chat will be aligned. I also guide us on areas where we can all benefit and be more aware of improving. This is similar to my experience with my school leaders/ administrators. Staff is invited to collaborate and share their thoughts on school wide decisions. As for the implications for 21st Century Schools, I need to provide more clear directions and roles that will help us three be more efficient within our own team. As we talk about the topics we should discuss each month there is always an inclusive decision. In addition, I also consider myself a transformational leader where my primary interest is sharing resources, engage in collaboration and provide learning opportunities between Dual Language Teachers.
